Gazza Off To World Athletics Champs

Kwaito superstar Gazza received an opportunity of a lifetime after he was invited to perform during the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany on August 13, 2009.

The invitation, explained the multiple award winning star, came as a result of the successful tour he had in Germany a couple of months ago.Said Gazza: ‘I’m very excited, I’m lost for words. They don’t normally come bigger than this one. This is truly a dream come true for me. I could not believe my ears when the news was brought to me by the people from Goethe Centre who also sent me to Germany earlier.’I really gave a good account of myself and I made an excellent impression on the Germans. It has always been my dream to perform in front of a very huge crowd with other international superstars with the entire world’s attention on me. I’ve got that opportunity now.’Gazza, undoubtedly Namibia’s top live performer, promised to proudly represent Namibia in particular and Africa in general, adding that he is going to give his all at the show.’The crowd was wonderful to me the last time I performed in Berlin and I am just too glad I gave them a superb performance. Now my hard work is rewarded with this wonderful opportunity and people can rest assured of that, I’m going to take GMP to the next level.’I’m going to do it for both Namibia and Africa. I am taking two dancers with me this time and I’m sure with Mshoza and Mosimboti we are going to rock the world,’ he vowed.’I’m not going to be someone else but I am going to remain that same Gazza. My own style brought me where I am and look at this massive invitation I’ve received. It’s every artist’s dream to perform at an event of this magnitude.’There are going to be other artists from all over the world and it will be interesting to see how we are going to present ourselves. I’m definitely going to make them aware of a small country going by the name of Namibia in Africa. I promised to be a good ambassador for my country and I thank the people from the Goethe Centre from the bottom of my heart,’ he said.Gazza will, amongst others, perform his hit ‘International’ with German-based kwaito artist Ees.Meanwhile, the four-time Sanlam NBC Music Award Kwaito Artist of the Year promised his legion of fans that they will receive an excellent Christmas gift from him in the form of either a full album or a single towards the end of the year.
