Fuel prices to remain unchanged for May

The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Industry has announced its decision not to adjust fuel prices for May.

Petrol will continue to cost N$20.67 per litre, diesel 50ppm will remain N$20.62, and diesel 10ppm will cost N$20.72 per litre.

This is due to the fact that while the cost of crude oil has declined over the past month, the Namibia dollar has depreciated in value against the United States dollar, making fuel imports more expensive.

“In April 2025, crude oil prices declined, mainly due to increased global supply and weakened demand outlook,” the ministry stated.

While non-OPEC countries maintained high a high output, OPEC+ continued to increase their production rate.

Meanwhile, the rising tensions in international trade due to the United States’ new tariffs lead to reduced demand.

The decreased price was offset by the Namibia dollar depreciating against the United States dollar by 4.27% this month, compared to March 2025.

The ministry highlights its commitment to “timely adjustments of local fuel prices in response to international developments , ensuring fair pricing for consumers while maintaining sustainability of the fuel supply chain”.
