Mercedes-Benz hosted its fourth ‘Friends of the Benz’ event over the weekend, bringing together owners and enthusiasts for an exclusive experience with the brand’s latest models.
The gathering began with a scenic convoy drive to Okahandja Lodge, where guests were treated to a hands-on introduction to the powerful Mercedes-AMG CLE53 Coupé and the AMG GT63 S E-Performance.
Participants had the opportunity to test-drive the models, experience their performance and engineering, and share feedback with the organisers.
Mercedes-Benz sales manager Mark Breitenbach says the event was designed to strengthen the connection between the brand and its customers.
“We want to build enthusiasm around the brand and gather feedback from our customers on what they’d like to see from future events,” he says, emphasising the company’s commitment to customer engagement.
The ‘Friends of the Benz’ initiative aims to foster a sense of community among Mercedes-Benz drivers by creating a space where people can share their passion for the brand and connect with others who share similar interests.
Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Pombili Shilongo says she appreciates the creativity and effort that go into organising such experiences.
“After a few drives to various lodges, our aim is always to improve and do better each time we host this event,” she says.
Marketing professional Ignatious Jingura, popularly known as ‘The Marketing Guy’, lauds the event’s focus on personal connection.
“People always connect with their experiences,” he says.
“I love that Mercedes-Benz gives people more than just the car – it’s about luxury, lifestyle and the opportunity to meet others who share the same passion.”
Beyond showcasing vehicles, ‘Friends of the Benz’ reflects Mercedes-Benz’s broader strategy to build lasting relationships with its customers.
The event allows the company to blend brand engagement with lifestyle experiences, positioning Mercedes-Benz not only as a car manufacturer but as a community built around excellence, design and innovation, Jingura says.
