Freezing weather predicted for South

ANOTHER black Sunday is looming for farmers in the South.

Weather forecaster Simon Dirkse said yesterday that they expected another cold front to pass through the southern reaches at the weekend, bringing freezing temperatures. Two weeks ago, more than 200 small livestock died at the settlement of Aus after sudden rain and freezing conditions hit the area.Dirkse said the cold front would strike on Saturday and bring with it “destructive rain”.”We expect the temperatures to drop drastically by around 10 degrees, near freezing point. With it will come rain that is normally not good for farmers in the South,” said Dirkse.Emma Boois, Settlement Secretary at Aus, said they would put up posters to warn farmers in the townlands.”We have no access to television and the radio is very difficult to hear when you are in Aus.We will have to do something tomorrow morning,” she said.Aus is known to be the coldest place in Namibia.
