THE Okahao Town Council has launched its mayoral relief fund aimed at developing social projects at the town.
The town raised N$1,9 million during a fundraising gala dinner over the weekend.
Okahao mayor Cornelia Iiyambula told The Namibian that Frank Fredericks donated N$1,2 million towards the construction of a sport field at the town.
Fredericks also gave scholarships worth N$100 000 to students from Okahao who are studying at different tertiary institutions around the country.
The council plans to raise more funding towards the development of the Okahao sport facility.
The mayor said N$395 000 of the pledged amount was in kind.
“The money raised during the event will go towards the development of the Okahao sport facility,” she said.
The council appealed to Good Samaritans who are willing to assist to submit their pledges for the dream to be realised.
