Four people were murdered over the long weekend, the police said in a crime report on Monday.
The body of Seun Herman Kamibeb (23) was discovered in Grootfontein with a stab wound on the right side of the chest and injuries at the back of the head.
“No arrest has been made and the next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue,” Shikwambi said.
On Monday, it is alleged that Likius Ndjavera (43) was declared dead upon arrival at Katutura Health Centre.
Shikwambi said Ndjavera was observed to have sustained two wounds consistent with stabbing, one on his right rib cage area and the other on his back.
“No arrest has been made and the next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue,” she said.
Meanwhile, in Windhoek’s Freedomland area, a man suspected of involvement in a robbery was fatally shot during a scuffle with police on Sunday around 19h42.
Shikwambi said officers from the Serious Crime Sub-Division had approached a blue vehicle believed to be connected to a hijacking incident reported in Khomasdal on Saturday.
She added that as an officer approached the driver with his firearm drawn and identified himself, the driver allegedly opened the door forcefully, knocking the officer to the ground. A physical altercation ensued, during which one officer fired a shot to ward off the attacker. A second officer intervened and also discharged his weapon.
The suspect reportedly stood up, walked a short distance, collapsed and died. He has not yet been identified, and next of kin are yet to be traced. Police investigations continue.
In another incident, a woman (27) was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend (32) at Klein Aub on Sunday.
According to Shikwambi, the deceased was identified as Moreen Van Wyk and was discovered at around 05h00 in a riverbed in Rietoog, Klein Aub.
“Van Wyk died on the spot after she was strangled and hit with stones multiple times on her head by her boyfriend,” the spokesperson said.
