Four serious crimes, including armed robbery and stock theft with an estimated value of over N$240 000, were reported across the Kavango West region between 1 and 3 January.
This is according to the Namibian Police’s crime report issued on Sunday.
The most violent incident occurred at a shebeen at Mile 10 village in the early hours of Saturday at around 02h39, when two unknown suspects allegedly robbed a bartender of N$9 800 after threatening to kill her.
According to the report, the suspects woke the bartender, claiming that the bar owner was with them and had instructed her to hand over money to purchase morning stock.
When the victim realised that the bar owner was not present, the suspects grabbed her from behind, held her at knife-point, assaulted her, and tied her hands and legs before demanding money.
The suspects fled after the robbery and remain at large.
At Nkurenkuru, the police are investigating a major stock-theft case in which 23 head of cattle valued at N$184 000 were stolen from a 23-year-old Namibian woman at Maporeza village on Friday.
The suspect allegedly took the cattle to Katope village. All 23 head of cattle have since been recovered; however, the suspect has not been arrested.
A separate stock-theft case was reported at Mavanze village on New Year’s Day at around 06h00, where two oxen valued at N$17 000 were stolen from a kraal by suspects allegedly intending to sell them.
The 48-year-old Namibian female complainant recovered both animals.
A 35-year-old Namibian male suspect was arrested, while two other known suspects remain at large.
The police also arrested three Namibian men aged 20, 20, and 28 in connection with a sophisticated theft scheme at Nkurenkuru.
The suspects allegedly stole a bank card from a 73-year-old man’s bag between 22 December 2025 and 2 January, replacing it with a counterfeit card. They then allegedly used the stolen card to withdraw N$38 400 from the victim’s account.
No money has been recovered.
Police investigations continue.
