Four children stabbed to death at nursery school in Uganda – police

Four children were stabbed to death at a nursery school in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, on Thursday, the police say.

The suspect gained access to the nursery school by posing as a parent, before attacking the children, who were reportedly between two and three years old.

Angry residents attempted to lynch the suspect as he tried to escape before security forces intervened and arrested him, police spokeswoman Racheal Kawala says.

“We confirm a tragic incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Programme school in the Makindye division, Kampala City, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four juveniles,” Kawala says.

The motive behind the killings remains unclear, and the police are investigating.

Videos on social media show distressed parents outside the nursery school, now cordoned off, anxiously seeking news of their children and demanding their release.

Such killings are rare in Uganda.
