Retired Khomas regional commander and former deputy inspector general Desderius Shilunga was attacked and robbed in Windhoek on Tuesday.
The incident took place between 23h00 and 00h00.
Four suspects allegedly apprehended Shilunga when he opened the gate of his home at Pionierspark upon arriving.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in a report says the suspects allegedly forced Shilunga into their vehicle and drove to Matsitsi Road between Otjomuise and Goreangab Dam, where they assaulted him and stole items worth N$75 200.
The items include the keys to his Lexus, bank cards, his cellphone, Rolex watch, jacket, pants, sandals and glasses.
The suspects also withdrew an unknown amount of money from two of his bank accounts.
“The items have not been recovered yet and suspects have not been arrested,” Shikwambi says.
Shilunga retired in March 2018 and has been recognised for his role in addressing issues like road safety and launching the Namibia University of Science and Technology Students Against Crime initiative.
