A former Namibia Institute for Public Administration and Management (Nipam) manager for marketing and communication, Katoole Ipinge, has been arrested for corruption.
The arrest was announced by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) spokesperson Marina Matundu in a statement on Friday.
Investigations by the ACC revealed that Ipinge misused his position by providing his personal bank account details to Nipam clients, instructing them to deposit funds intended for Nipam into his account for personal benefit.
“According to the investigation, between 29 June 2021 and 11 December 2021, a total of N$175 200 was allegedly deposited into the suspects personal bank account,” she said.
Ipinge was arrested on Thursday for contravening Section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2023, read together with Sections 1, 47, and 49.
He appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Friday and was granted bail of N$10 000.
The matter was postponed to 19 March and transferred to the Windhoek Regional Court.
Matundu said the commission remains committed to combatting corruption and holding people accountable, while urging the public to report corrupt activities.
