Former NamWater spokesperson takes own life

A man allegedly took his own life on Wednesday at Farm Satamab in the Usakos area.

The body of Tommi-Riva Numbala (69), who was a spokesperson for the Namibia Water Corporation for 27 years before his retirement, was discovered in an open area in front of his house by his employee, the police say.

According to his employee, the deceased left the farm for Windhoek on Sunday evening to see his wife, who is admitted to hospital. He only came back on Tuesday at around 19h00.

“His employee opened the gate for him, greeted him and left while he was parking his vehicle, only to discover his body this morning,” reads the police report.

Numbala’s body was taken to the Usakos State Hospital mortuary.
