Former Deputy Minister Wohler dies

FORMER Deputy Lands Minister Siegfried Wohler has died.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Theo-Ben Gurirab, made the announcement in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

Wohler was a member of the ruling Swapo Party and was appointed to the post as Deputy Minister in March 1999 by former President Sam Nujoma. He was also a member of the Constituent Assembly in 1990 and remained an MP until his appointment to the Lands Ministry. Wohler was also the chairman of the board of directors of the Swapo company Kalahari Holdings for a while. He did not return to Parliament after the November 2004 elections.
