Former AirNam acting CEO Masule leaves

FORMER Air Namibia acting chief executive officer and general manager of commercial services Xavier Masule has quit the national airline with effect from 10 April 2020, after 16 years of service.

Masule has been Air Namibia’s acting chief executive officer from March 2019 to mid-February 2020.

In a statement issued last week, the airline said Masule first joined the airline in 1998, and worked as an assistant manager: management accountant. However, two years down the line, he was promoted to the position of manager for corporate finance; a position he held for two years.

He left the airline after four years of service and returned in August 2004 until March 2020. When he rejoined the airline, he was the senior manager of finance.

In 2007, he was appointed business development executive responsible for business process automation; international air transport association simplifying the business; and new business streams and routes.

In 2010, Masule was appointed general manager of commercial services, a position he held until his resignation.

“I have enjoyed my work, grew in my career, met diverse people from various backgrounds and cultures, and have seen the airline grow from strength to strength,” Masule said.

Air Namibia interim chief Elia Erastus acknowledged Masule’s efforts and unconditional commitment towards the airline throughout the years.

“On behalf of everyone at Air Namibia, I would like to wish Mr Masule the best of success with his future endeavours,” said Erastus.

Meanwhile, the process to identify a substantive commercial general manager will commence soon, but in the meantime the airline will find a suitable person to act in that position, to enable a smooth handover process.
