A member of the Society of Advocates of Namibia, Beatrix de Jager, has been appointed as a judge of the High Court with effect from the start of July.
The secretary of the Judicial Service Commission, Elias Shikongo, announced De Jager’s appointment in a statement on Friday.
Shikongo also announced that retired High Court judge George Coleman has been appointed as an acting judge of the High Court with effect from 1 July to 9 December this year.
De Jager served as an acting judge from mid-January this year to the middle of April.
She has been in the legal profession since 2004 and has practised law as a member of the Society of Advocates of Namibia since 2009.
Coleman was first appointed as a judge of the High Court at the start of 2022.
He retired at the end of January this year.
