Follow the Warriors to Lusaka

SUPPORTERS of the Brave Warriors who want to travel with the team to Zambia, have been urged to book a seat on one of three buses to ferry fans to and from Lusaka for the defining 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between the two nations on 23 March.

The ministry of sports, in collaboration with the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC), the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and the Brave Warriors Supporters Club made it possible for 195 diehard fans to keep up with their heroes’ exploits in Zambia.

A bus each has been assigned for fans from Windhoek, Oshakati and Rundu. Those from Windhoek are expected to pay a fee of N$700 each. Supporters from Oshakati will contribute N$500, while the Rundu contingent pay N$400, and those from Katima Mulilo will pay N$350.

These funds will be used for purchasing fuel, and for paying the drivers. The government can only cater for fuel within Namibian borders.

Contributions in Windhoek will be paid at the NFA and NSC offices, and the payment points in the other towns will be announced before the end of the week.

Those who wish to travel must have a valid Namibian passport and certified copy of your ID, accompanied by your contribution. The passport will be returned upon completion of all relevant documentation.

Seats will be on a first-come first-served basis, said the initiative’s coordinators.

Accommodation is available in Lusaka. A bed and breakfast double room costs N$630 for two people sharing for two nights.

“Entry tickets to the stadium may be charged to the supporters, hence kindly have extra cash for any emergencies, as it is ultimately the responsibility of the supporter,” said the organisers.

Travellers are likewise urged to get vaccinations against malaria and yellow fever as the journey will take them through areas prone to these diseases.

“Also, take precautionary measures with regards to your own health matters by bringing along mosquito repellents, a travelling blanket, and also have a medical aid card or health insurance cover.”

The closing date for registration and payments is Friday, 15 March to allow for logistics planning. For further details, fans can contact the NFA on +264 61265691 or NSC on + 264 61246105. -Adapted from nfa.org.na
