Fortescue Energy country manager Chris Movirongo says it is important to educate pupils on the upcoming green energy sector.

He said this at the media launch of the Namibia Career Expo earlier this week.

“This year’s expo holds specific significance as we navigate the ever-evolving career opportunities with a particular focus on the emerging green energy sector,” Movirongo said.

He commended the expo for its efforts in career guidance.

Efforts to educate the public on green hydrogen are becoming increasingly deliberate, particularly in informing future graduates about potential career paths after high school, he said.

Movirongo said the green hydron revolution is a great opportunity for Africa and the world.

Fortesque Energy will be an exhibitor at the career expo, which will focus on educating pupils on the possibilities in the sector.

Speaking at the same event, project coordinator of Namibia Careers Expo Helena Shiweda said the first day of the expo will see a welcoming event, with exhibitors on the second day.

Shiweda said speakers featured at the event were intentionally selected to provide pupils with a broader perspective on different fields.

“Exhibitors can really get into what it is they have to offer . . . We are very excited,” she said.

The expo will take place on 3 and 4 April, and will showcase institutions such as the Aleit Academy, Gobabis Vocational Training Centre, Stellenbosch University, and various other local and international institutions.
