Five men arrested for assault at Walvis Bay

Five men were arrested by the police at Walvis Bay this week following an alleged attack on a man on Satuday.

The man has since been missing.

According to Erongo police spokesperson chief inspector Ileni Shapumba, Sheehama Matheus (24) had gone to his girlfriend’s house for a braai.

Matheus was allegedly falsley accused of slapping his girlfriend’s brother, leading to the bother’s friends assaulting him.

“After the assault, nobody knows what happened to the victim, and his whereabouts are unknown,” says Shapumba.

Five suspects were arrested in connection with the assault case.

Four of the suspects, Jimmy Gaeb (24), Marvin Wapota (20), Romano Paulus (20) and Enrico Gomachab (20), appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Their case was postponed to 22 August without bail.

The fifth suspect was arrested on Monday and is expected to appear in court on Friday.

The family and friends of the missing person demonstrated at the court on Friday to show their dissatisfaction with criminal activities in their locations.

They demanded the courts not grant bail to the suspects until the missing person is found.

The police investigation continues.
