A NAMIBIAN based website dedicated specifically to the country’s second largest industry, the fishing and aquaculture sector, was launched at Walvis Bay last week.
The website, officially launched by Interact Advertising Namibia, was unveiled by the Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources Dr Abraham Iyambo at a function attended by key players in the industry. Located at www.nfi.com.na, the site features complete coverage of Namibia’s fishing sector, the infant aquaculture industry, processing, packaging, cold storage, transportation, port and harbour services, Namibia’s marine species and industry statistics. The site also provides an avenue for interested parties to witness and showcase, online, how the government manages its fisheries and marine resources. In addition, it contains comprehensive details of Namibian companies, their product offerings and the means to engage directly with the companies from the website.During the ceremony, Interact Advertising Managing Director, Gareth Amos, officially handed the website to the Minister who will act as custodian of the website on behalf of the industry.Commenting at the launch of the website, Dr Iyambo said: “The grand initiative to develop this professional, first world, detailed, comprehensive and user-friendly website is highly commendable. It will surely result in solid promotion of the fisheries sector and generate increased business linkages; trade and investment opportunities, and for this I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation and congratulations to Interact Advertising ….”Amos said: “After months of extensive research into the worldwide industry and its online representation, we were delighted to discover that no other African country, including South Africa, has yet consolidated its fishing industry online. We discovered the gem of the international industry in the New Zealand Industry Online, and using that as a yard-stick we have made sure that the Namibian Fishing Industry Online, stands head and shoulders above its International counterparts.”The Namibian Fishing Industry Online is an ongoing project and any fishing companies, associations or businesses related to the fishing industry in Namibia who would like to be included on this site, may contact Interact Advertising at www.interact.com.na.Located at www.nfi.com.na, the site features complete coverage of Namibia’s fishing sector, the infant aquaculture industry, processing, packaging, cold storage, transportation, port and harbour services, Namibia’s marine species and industry statistics. We discovered the gem of the international industry in the New Zealand Industry Online, and using that as a yard-stick we have made sure that the Namibian Fishing Industry Online, stands head and shoulders above its International counterparts.”The Namibian Fishing Industry Online is an ongoing project and any fishing companies, associations or businesses related to the fishing industry in Namibia who would like to be included on this site, may contact Interact Advertising at www.interact.com.na.
