FirstRand Namibia injects N$400 000 into youth skills training

FIRSTRAND Namibia has contributed N$400 000 towards empowering young Namibians through skills training, mentorship and access to vital networks.

The commitment was announced during the One Economy Foundation’s 10th anniversary celebration and fundraising by FirstRand Namibia Foundation’s group corporate social investment manager Revonia Job on 7 August.

The contribution reflects a shared vision for a more equitable and empowered Namibia, she said.

The funds will be allocated towards addressing some of Namibia’s pressing social challenges.

Job described the foundation’s work as transformative, highlighting the longstanding alignment between FNB and the foundation.

“As we reflect on this remarkable 10-year journey, we must acknowledge that at the heart of One Economy’s impact is the conviction that change must include all voices.

“This is the kind of change that resonates deeply with our own mission at the FirstRand Foundation,” she said, adding that its mission is rooted in meaningful, enduring support that builds resilience and dignity.

Established in 1998, FirstRand Namibia serves as a strategic vehicle through which the group’s businesses (FNB Namibia, RMB Namibia, WesBank Namibia, PointBreak, and Ashburton Investments Namibia) channel their corporate social investment spend.

The foundation’s executive chairperson, former first lady Monica Geingos, highlighted that it would not have made it without the support of partners.

“In 10 years, we’ve raised N$100 million. Most of it went to infrastructure because we had to build something visible, tangible.

“That’s how we earned trust. That’s how we created a blueprint for impact,” she said.
