A REQUEST by the desperate Lüderitz father of a missing three-year-old boy to the office of the first lady of Namibia (FLON) was turned down.
Nelson Mandela Nakale approached the office for assistance to set up a reward to help find his son Spencer Mandela Nakale, who went missing on the 30 December.
The office’s technical advisor Veronica Theron responded that it has no financial resources to set up a reward.
“We are not able to honour the request for the reward as we receive high volumes of similar requests. We linked them to psycho social support as we are not having physical presence in regions,” said Theron.
Out of desperation to find his son, the father of the toddler has been seeking assistance from different organisations for a reward for the safe return of his child.
“The people from the office of the first lady replied, but they said that they cannot help me, they can only pray for me. I really don’t know what to do now,” said Nakale.
The community of Lüderitz has not given up on the search for the boy.
A protest march by not more than 50 people, under the #BringSpencerHome is planned for Friday at Lüderitz with the assistance of the missing person unit (MPU), an organisation that advocates for missing persons in and around the Namibian.
The protests will start at 13h00 from Area 7 where Mandela was last seen, to the police station where they will hand over a petition.
