Fireworks warning – lock up your pets

THE annual fireworks display at the Windhoek Showgrounds will take place tonight and pet owners in the area are warned to take extra care of their four-legged friends during this time.

The fireworks display will be between 20h00 and 21h00. Keep your pet indoors and stay home to reassure it if it gets frightened.Every year, panicked pets run into the streets where they get run over by cars, entangled in barbed wire, or they can’t find their way home. The Windhoek Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) emphasises that all animals are extremely sound sensitive, and loud bangs are very stressful for them. The SPCA requests the public to report any missing pets immediately to their Windhoek offices at tel.23 8654 (office hours) or cell 081 124 4520.Any pets found in the streets should be taken to the SPCA in Robert Mugabe Avenue, so that they can be returned to their owners as soon as possible.Objections to this annual fireworks display can be put in writing and forwarded to the Windhoek SPCA at e-mail spcawhk@mweb.com.na or fax (061) 22 5715.Keep your pet indoors and stay home to reassure it if it gets frightened.Every year, panicked pets run into the streets where they get run over by cars, entangled in barbed wire, or they can’t find their way home. The Windhoek Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) emphasises that all animals are extremely sound sensitive, and loud bangs are very stressful for them. The SPCA requests the public to report any missing pets immediately to their Windhoek offices at tel.23 8654 (office hours) or cell 081 124 4520.Any pets found in the streets should be taken to the SPCA in Robert Mugabe Avenue, so that they can be returned to their owners as soon as possible.Objections to this annual fireworks display can be put in writing and forwarded to the Windhoek SPCA at e-mail spcawhk@mweb.com.na or fax (061) 22 5715.
