FIFTEEN people were arrested at Opuwo after they dug up the body of a recently buried man last week and ordered his traditional leader to bury him somewhere else.
Police at the town confirmed that the body of Uezepaisa Ngombe was dug up from his burial site at the village of Otutati on Thursday, but that it had since been returned. The group apparently claimed that the cemetery at which Ngombe had been buried was meant exclusively for their tribe. They reportedly carried the exhumed coffin to Ngombe’s family homestead.Ngombe’s family, identified as the Kuvaris, immediately reported the incident to the Police. All 15 members of the opposing group were rounded up on Thursday afternoon, and appeared in the Opuwo Magistrate’s court on Monday. They were each granted bail of N$500.Ngombe was reburied at the same site where he was originally put to rest.
