NAMIBIAN football is bracing itself for another FIFA course as the WIAWA Course for Elite Coaches starts on May 24 in Windhoek with Fifa Instructor Erich Rutemoller to conduct the course at Safari Hotel.
The Win in Africa with Africa (WIAWA) Coaching Course was planned for mid-April but had to be postponed due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland that produced ash that interrupted air traffic in Europe, making it impossible for the instructor to travel to Namibia. But NFA Technical Director Klaus Staerk has confirmed that the course will now start on Monday at Safari Hotel, with Rutemoller to arrive this weekend. He said the course would be attended by 30 coaches, mostly from the Premier League, and selected youth coaches.’CAF have also stated that coaches with five years experience in the league will be given a CAF C licence after the course depending on recommendations by the NFA and the instructor and for those that have attended coaching course outside Namibia that are equivalent to the UEFA B licence will too get a CAF B licence’.The course will take participants through FIFA’s development programmes before taking them through session on analyzing and coaching football at the top level. Furthermore, participants will be inducted with the organisation and planning of training sessions on day two, with day three to concentrate on the physical preparation of players. The programme will continue on Thursday with goalkeeper coaching and defensive work with Ramblers Technical Director and Goalkeeper Lutz Pfhanneitstail to assist with goalkeeping.Day five will see emphasis on attacking play and formations and playing systems. On the final day, May 29, the coaches will be expected to debate on various difficulties in their profession with a closing ceremony in the afternoon. Most of the practical sessions of the course will be practised on a selected under-17 side, with about two sessions per day at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. – NFA Secretariat
