Fesmedia Africa is due to end its operations in Namibia this year.
The move also marks the end of its work in sub-Saharan Africa.
The closure has been confirmed by Fesmedia Africa programme manager Dickson Kasote, who did not provide further details or reveal the reason behind the decision.
“I can confirm that Fesmedia will be closing at the end of 2025, officially,” he says.
Fesmedia Africa is a regional media development programme under Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
The organisation is focused on promoting media freedom, access to information, and the development of independent journalism across Africa.
Over the years, Fesmedia Africa played a key role in advocating for press freedom, supporting media law reforms, and facilitating capacity-building initiatives for journalists and media professionals.
