Females in charge

THE first female mayor of Swakopmund, Rosina //Hoabes, was re-elected at a Special Council Meeting on Friday.

Councillor Miriam Valombola was re-elected as Deputy Mayor. The remaining office bearers were chosen under the supervision of Magistrate Gibson Imbili.//Hoabes and Valombola are Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively.The five members of the Management Council are Willem van Rooyen, Hans-Dieter Gothje, Trofimus Shikongo, Daniel Kambho and Priscilla Kavita.The councillors will only serve for a couple of months – until the local council elections are run.They are expected to take place before the middle of the year.The remaining office bearers were chosen under the supervision of Magistrate Gibson Imbili. //Hoabes and Valombola are Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively.
