Man kills own two children in Oshikoto region

A 33-year-old man allegedly murdered his two children at Onanki village in the Omuntele constituency, according to police in the Oshikoto region.

The victims are a four-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy.

According to the police commander for the region, commissioner Ndeshipanda Iifo, the suspect surrendered himself to the Okatope Police Station on Monday after allegedly killing the two children on Sunday night.

“The motive behind the killings is not yet known,” she says.

In an unrelated incident on Saturday at Antoni village, during a joint patrol, members of the Anti-Poaching Unit from Etosha National Park and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism apprehended two suspects for being in possession of carcasses of protected game and game birds.

The suspects, aged between 17 and 25, were found with carcasses valued at N$91 800.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
