Father accused of raping daughter in Oshikoto region

A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter at Emono, a village in the Onayena area of the Oshikoto region.

This was announced by Namibian Police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in a crime report on Sunday.

Shikwambi said the incident reportedly occurred on Sunday around 00h30 after the girl had gone to her father’s room.

The suspect was taken into police custody after housemates reportedly caught the two in the act.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In a separate incident, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped at about 02h00 on Saturday while walking home from a bar at the DRC location at Swakopmund.

The police say a known man forced her into his room and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is continuing.
