OSHAKATI – Regional Councillor Joseph Mupetami says farmers in the ombuga area of the Oshana Region have decided to dig earth dams this year to reduce their dependence on Government-subsidised water supplies Mupetami said the decision was taken during a recent farmers’ meeting at Okatyali.
The project will target common grazing areas in the constituencies of Okatyali, Olukonda and Uukwiyuushona According to Mupetami, farmers have established a committee which will spearhead the project and solicit funds from members and donor agencies. All livestock farmers in the area, commonly known as ‘ombuga’, have been urged to become involved in the project.”The committee is also going to educate members on grazing management, bush fire-fighting and the prevention of the unnecessary cutting down of trees in the constituencies,” Mupetami said.- NampaAll livestock farmers in the area, commonly known as ‘ombuga’, have been urged to become involved in the project. “The committee is also going to educate members on grazing management, bush fire-fighting and the prevention of the unnecessary cutting down of trees in the constituencies,” Mupetami said. – Nampa
