Fans and friends shocked at former Miss USA’s sudden passing

FORMER Miss USA (2019) and lawyer Cheslie Kryst (30) has died.According to the New York Post, Kryst died on Sunday after jumping from the luxury 60-story Orion building in New York.

The Miss Universe and Miss USA organisations released a statement regarding her death.

“The Miss Universe and Miss USA organisations are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and kindest people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered. Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time,” the statement read.

Miss Namibia Chelsi Shikongo took to social media to pen a heartfelt message on her encounter with the late beauty queen.

“I remember me and @dazvarlamova were too shy to ask for a picture because they seemed so busy, and she said we should just go up there and ask, and so we did, and the first thing she said to me is I’m so tall and I remind her of Andrea. She proceeded to ask me how tall am I before we took the picture, and she was so loving and kind. What a phenomenal woman, she even got our name joke that I told her. Just an amazing person, truly. May her soul rest in peace,” she wrote.

A few hours before her death, Kryst posted a picture on her Instagram page with the caption: “May this day bring you rest and peace.”

Her friends and fans commented under the post, sending their deepest condolences.

“I will never forget meeting you and running home to tell Gio that I had just met the brightest light. We were just getting started in our friendship, but you will stay with me forever. Miss you already, sweet friend,” said Tommy DiDario.

Another Instagram user, @frantvhost, said: “Cheslie, I am so sorry. I am so very sorry. You were such a light, and you brought so much joy to the world. My heart aches for your family. Love you, Cheslie. Love you.”

Kryst participated in the Miss Universe pageant in 2019 alongside South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi, who won the title.

During the contest she and Tunzi became close friends as they were roommates.
