The Khomas Netball League continued its 2026 season with another successful weekend of matches at the University of Namibia (Unam) main campus courts in Windhoek.
Despite early morning rain that caused a short delay on Saturday, most teams turned up and delivered good performances. Only Black Africa did not appear for their games.
Regional chairperson Dimitri Bittler says it was a good weekend.
“It has been brilliant here at the Unam main campus. Despite the rain that caused a small delay, the Khomas Netball League delivered another successful weekend. We are really excited for the 2026 season as we enter the second weekend. The quality of play has been good.”
Bittler says the results from this weekend will bring big changes.
“After this weekend, we will take a break over the long weekend and return stronger afterwards. These results will definitely shift the log standings. Many teams will now realise they have dropped closer to the relegation zone or are fighting for promotion. This break gives them time to focus on training and work on the areas where they need to improve,” he says.
Khomas netball technical director David Faustinus elaborates on some of the big scorelines.
“A 15-0 result means one team did not pitch. As for the 62-8, Unam came from the premier league, they were relegated last season, hence that score margin. They are showing their experience and dominance,” he says.
When asked about the importance of the long weekend break, Faustinus says it is too early to tell.
“It’s actually too early to tell since these were only the second round of games,” he says.
Khomas netball secretary Klaudia Mbeeli has commended the teams for their patience despite the rain.
“Some teams are displaying quite interesting results. I must commend all the teams who stayed and waited for the rain to clear up. We will continue until we finish,” she said.
