Defending champion Kavango West signalled their intention to retain the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup title after beating Kavango East with 2-1 in their opening match. Striker Richard Hausiku and Mathias Hausiku were in excellent form in a nail-biting action-packed derby.
Meanwhile, the Kunene region played to a one-all draw in a match marred by a hard tackling approach, in which Ignatius Mweyanale scored for the Oshana region, as Chris Ndjiisiree netted home for the Kunene region in their opening match at Gobabis on Friday.
