Ex-Miss Namibia finalist wins second princess at Miss Africa pageant

Miss Namibia 2017 finalist Delsie Somaes won the title of second princess at the Miss Africa pageant on Sunday.

Miss Zimbabwe Kundai Benhura was crowned Miss Africa, with Tity Muzadi from Congo as first runner-up.

The pageant that featured 19 contestants from across the continent, was held in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.

The Miss Africa pageant is a premier platform for empowering African women and promoting cultural exchange.

Walvis Bay-born Somaes said on Wednesday that she was away from the stage for eight years.

“No one expected me to make a comeback. When I did, it felt like a beautiful surprise for everyone including myself. Coming in second was more than just a title, it was a reminder that dreams delayed aren’t dreams denied. Stepping back into that spotlight after so long felt like coming home to a part of me I’d tucked away. It made me feel proud, a little emotional, and so deeply grateful. I did it for the little girl who once dreamed in sparkles and the father who always believed in her.” she said.

The pageant was held under the theme: ‘Climate Action’.
