Events To Get Your Festive Groove On

Ah, my last events column has arrived.

I’m not sure how many I have done this year, but I promise you it’s been an absolute joy to tell you about the art exhibitions, the store launches, the year-end parties, the camping weeks, the actor training sessions, the music, the quiz nights, the markets, and so much more. I hope you have a tonne of fun.

This Weekend

The Project Room presents ‘Kina, a Kinasthetic Choreopoem for Otherwise Grandchildren’ on 28 and 29 November from 19h00. There will be performances by Justina Andreas, Bupe Chiwala, Tuli Mekondjo, Fellipus Negodhi and Kuzajatu X Maamberua, with Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja as the curator. Entry is N$100.

On Friday, the Namibia Arts Association is hosting an artist’s year-end party for members from 18h00.

This Saturday is Soul Xpress’ ‘Anatomy of Hunger Part 2’, a site walk performance beginning at the College of the Arts Theatre School from 17h00. The walking performance will stop at historic colonial-era sites for performances exploring Windhoek’s past and present. Tickets are N$80.

Studio Frieda Lühl Shop is officially opening on 29 November at the Namibia Craft Centre, with a new collection of jewellery in collaboration with Mona, Constance and Remember and a showing of sculptures by Mitchell M Gatsi between 11h00 and 13h00.

Also on 29 November is the ‘Kapana Soul Session’ at Tipsy Rabbit Hole from noon, with a cocktail bar, thrift shop, kapana, tattoo parlour and open mic, featuring Slick, Tapz, Longman, Beat Slanger, Sebby Ngeteya and more. Entry is N$50 and qualifies you free entrance at the after party at King’s Lounge.

Pretty and Planned presents ‘Mimosas and Marketing’, a sip, paint and power up experience on 29 November from 12h00 to 17h00. Entry is N$500 and includes drinks, snacks and art supplies. It will take place at 5 Grieg Street in Windhoek.

From 30 November to 7 December there’s a week-long farm camp experience for boys and girls aged 14 to 18. After that, children between 10 and 13 will be offered the same experience from 7 to 14 December. Activities include Bible studies, general farmwork, learning to weld, tool use, fishing, target shooting, tyre changing, horse riding, setting traps and more. Entry is N$3 500 for accommodation and meals.

Windhoek West is about to heat up this Sunday with ‘Namibia’s First-Ever Ultimate N$1 Pool Party’ with amazing music and good vibes from 12h00 in Grieg Street.

The National Theatre of Namibia is hosting the ‘Stage Actors’ Training Lab 2025’ every Tuesday and Thursday in the Rehearsal Room between 14h00 and 17h00. N$50-per-class tickets are only available via Webtickets.

Watch Francis Nyathi’s play ‘God of Women’, which will air every Tuesday and Friday on One Africa’s ‘Learn On One’ programme from 16h30. It is perfect for Grade 9 pupils and anyone interested in Namibian storytelling.

Drop in on quiz night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.

On Wednesdays you can also grab two ice cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

The Speakeasy in Liliencron Street is hosting a ladies’ night every Wednesday with 50% off of all cocktails and meal options available.

The last Wednesday weekly shindig is comedy and poetry night at Sicilia’s Restaurant and Lounge from 19h00. Cash prizes of up to N$1 000 are up for grabs for performers. Spots are limited.

Beyond

‘Hi Dezember’ takes place on 13 December, featuring DJ Kiki, Dreas, Tumi Mohamed, Soul Brothers, Mr Lucas and Bizza on the decks. Come through to Protea Hotel Furstenhof for N$250. All Day.
