Erongo residents will have the opportunity to voluntarily surrender unwanted or illegally owned firearms or ammunition to the police from 1 to 30 September.
Firearms will be able to be given up at the nearest police station without facing censure or negative repercussions.
The Erongo police is encouraging all residents to take advantage of this initiative to improve public safety and national security.
“Those who comply will not be subject to disclosure, arrest or prosecution,” they emphasised in a recent communication to the public.
They further stated that enquiries can be directed at 081 608 6925.
