Entertainers to thrill Namibians at Independence bash

RAOTRA Investment with the blessing of the Namibian government will be hosting an all local music bash in celebration of the country’s 25th independence day commemorations.

The bash which will take place on the eve of independence day, 20 March will be held at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura and entrance will be free of charge.

According to the organisers, the bash also serves as an opportunity for people who will not be able to make it to the Independence stadium the next day, to also be part of the celebrations.

“Not everyone will have transport to go to town and celebrate at the Independence stadium, so we want people to come have fun, celebrate and enjoy local music on Friday,” radio presenter and manager Jossy Joss said.

The Dogg, Freeda, Oteya, Mr Makoya, Essence, Brumilda and Promise are among the long list of musicians who will be keeping the crowd on their feet with their entertaining hits.

Raotra’s Jimmy Julie said that when selecting the musicians they wanted to make sure all the genres were equally represented.

The event is scheduled to kick off in the afternoon with the gates opening at 16h00. The audience will be kept entertained by a DJ until 18h00 when the live performances start.

No refreshments will be allowed to be brought in to the venue as refreshments will be sold.

Tight security will be provided both inside and outside the venue.

Jossy Joss said they have been planning the event for three months so it should be well organised and well planned.

He urged the Namibian nation to come out in numbers and be part of celebrating local music and our independence.

Sula Kyababa of Ogopa Butterfly pointed out the fact that on the same day another show with South African artists will also take place in Windhoek.

“This is where will see whether people rather want to support South African artists or their own local artists,” Sula said.
