unWrap.onlineSouth African rapper Mthembeni Ndevu, best known by his stage name Emtee, has been in Namibia for a week for his Logan tour in towns including Ondangwa and has collaborated with a few Namibian artists.
Musician Lazarus Shiimi, alias Gazza, one of the few who have gone into the studio with Emtee, says there will indeed be hot singles to come out of Namibia and South Africa. Gazza, whose ‘Brandewyne’ single recently hit a million views on YouTube, said Emtee came to visit him on a courtesy call – however, he insisted on working.
“He was like, ‘let’s work, let’s do something’, and we accomplished something, but we still haven’t decided when or how it would come out,” he stated.
Gazza, who has known Emtee for a long time, says their working experience has been quiet and pleasant.
“It’s always great seeing him, and one could say he’s the definition of a true hustler. The last time he was here, he just reminded me of what it means to be grounded because he kept calling me big brother, and the first time I worked with him, he accepted my invitation and charged me nothing because he thought I was a legend, and he’s been following me since channel one,” he said.
Mr Glo, the man behind some of Namibia’s biggest hits, has also worked with Emtee on a track featuring Manxebe.
“It was a great experience, he is a really cool person – chilled but hard-working. You can all look forward to an awesome song as we will be releasing it soon, so watch the space,” he said.
Ovitrap king Nga-I revealed they are working on a song that he produced, called ‘Hosea Kutako’, with Lolli _native, a South African musician signed to Emtee’s record label.
“Emtee is very chilled. He is easy to work with because we are both masters at what we do so we work fast. If everything goes according to plan, the song should be released by the end of July,” Nga-I said.
