A rock lobster vessel named ‘Newlands’ has gone missing at sea, Ministry of Works and Transport spokesperson Julius Ngweda announced on Wednesday.
The vessel had set sail from the port of Lüderitz on Sunday at around 13h30 and was carrying nine crew members.
Its last known position has been identified.
“The ministry has already requested the Namport tug and the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources patrol airplane to begin searching for the vessel,” Ngweda added.
He said all other relevant stakeholders have been notified.
