Ekandjo says there are no divisions in Swapo

LANDS and Resettlement Minister Jerry Ekandjo told Swapo supporters at the party’s 46th anniversary on Saturday that there is no division in Swapo and no lack of co-operation between President Hifikepunye Pohamba and his predecessor, party president Sam Nujoma.

Addressing a gathering at Okamwandi village near Oshakati, he said those people who talked about divisions in the party were lying. “Don’t believe them, they are telling you lies.Swapo is one; Swapo President Sam Nujoma and President Pohamba are one,” he said.He said these people were tribalists who wanted to divide Namibia, “as the Boers had done during their colonial rule.””This will never, ever happen again in our free Namibia which has been freed by Swapo after a long and bitter struggle. The colonial South African flag is gone from Namibia and also from South Africa for ever and we are no more going to allow colonialists back again here,” Ekandjo said.He blamed the colonialists of not having done anything for the Namibian people during their colonial rule of 31 years.”The Germans, and then the Boers, are the most to be blamed for the poverty and crimes that are now in Namibia because they haven’t done good to Namibians during their colonial rule. They haven’t educated our people and instead they divided them into homelands and took valuable land from them.”Ekandjo said the Swapo Government was determined to rule and to develop Namibia and its people in the right way.The ruling Swapo party turned 46 years old on April 19 and many party leaders addressed their supporters throughout the country on that day and over the past weekend.Minister Ekandjo also addressed a Swapo rally at Oniipa in the Oshikoto Region on Saturday afternoon.”Don’t believe them, they are telling you lies.Swapo is one; Swapo President Sam Nujoma and President Pohamba are one,” he said.He said these people were tribalists who wanted to divide Namibia, “as the Boers had done during their colonial rule.””This will never, ever happen again in our free Namibia which has been freed by Swapo after a long and bitter struggle. The colonial South African flag is gone from Namibia and also from South Africa for ever and we are no more going to allow colonialists back again here,” Ekandjo said.He blamed the colonialists of not having done anything for the Namibian people during their colonial rule of 31 years. “The Germans, and then the Boers, are the most to be blamed for the poverty and crimes that are now in Namibia because they haven’t done good to Namibians during their colonial rule. They haven’t educated our people and instead they divided them into homelands and took valuable land from them.”Ekandjo said the Swapo Government was determined to rule and to develop Namibia and its people in the right way.The ruling Swapo party turned 46 years old on April 19 and many party leaders addressed their supporters throughout the country on that day and over the past weekend.Minister Ekandjo also addressed a Swapo rally at Oniipa in the Oshikoto Region on Saturday afternoon.
