Namibians in need will once more have access to free medical care as a team of Egyptian doctors has arrived on its ninth medical mission to the country.
This group of surgeons and other healthcare professionals are offering a week of consultations, surgeries, and treatment.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Egyptian Orthodox Church in Namibia, represents a partnership between the Coptic Medical Association of North America and Namibia’s Ministry of Health and Social Services.
The mission says it aims to significantly improve healthcare access for all Namibians.
The team treated over 4 500 patients at the country’s state hospitals last year. The doctors arrived equipped with a supply of medication valued at N$7 million and essential medical equipment.
The Egyptian embassy in Windhoek is providing logistical support to ensure the mission runs smoothly.
Ambassador Wael Lotfy has expressed his optimism, saying: “This mission has been a tremendous success for the past eight years. We are confident this year will be equally beneficial for the Namibian people.”
