Education director gives Hishoono final warning

MINISTRY of Education, Arts and Culture executive director Sanet Steenkamp issued a final written warning to the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) Ohangwena mobiliser and teacher at Elao Primary School, Abed Hishoono, on Tuesday.

Steenkamp gave him the warming in connection with several offenses.

One offense relates to an audio clip he posted early last year on social media, where he denounced the government and instigated parents against government for non-delivery of textbooks and school stationery.

The ministry also found him in violation of the public service code of conduct by failing to use the correct channels to air his grievances, and failure to behave in a manner that maintains the reputation of the public service.

It also accuses him of abusing his position as a teacher for political gain, according to the Education Act, 2001.

“Regard this final written warning in a serious light, knowing that any further transgressions may lead to serious action being taken against you,” Steenkamp noted.

Hishoono is being sued by the first lady, Monica Geingos, for allegedly spreading defamatory and false allegations about her involvement in Fly Westair and for mentioning one of her children in the audio recording.

In a statement issued last month, Geingos said Hishoono claimed that one of her children’s fathers is among the detained Fishrot-accused.
