Driving Safety Forward: How Yango Partner Drivers Are Shaping Safer Roads in Namibia

Yango Group, the global tech company that creates daily services, continues to strengthen its focus on road safety in Namibia, driven by Yango partner drivers themselves.

More than just partner drivers, they are emerging as genuine advocates for responsible driving and community safety.

Through their professional standards, adherence to strict app safety features, and a consistent passenger-first approach, they are transforming the ride-hailing experience and contributing significantly to a broader culture of road safety on Namibian roads.

Aoxamub Kiandro, a committed Yango partner driver, attests to the safety and structure provided by the app.

“Yango is safe for drivers and also for the customers. I have driven for them for a long time and haven’t experienced anything dangerous.

“The app has safety measures that help us stay safe; the app is improved every day, and it’s strict. As partner drivers, we can also work together and solve all the problems that we are facing by sharing safety tips.

“But all in all, safety measures are being taken care of because in Namibia, this is the safest form of public transport I can think of.

“Furthermore, unlike other forms of transport, the driver’s information and pictures are all on the app, and you can track them very quickly.”

Another Yango partner driver, Christof Amunkete, who has partnered with Yango for two years, says the app’s safety features provide peace of mind on every trip.

“If you are in a situation of danger as a driver, there’s a feature on the app that you can press, it’s called the SOS button. It’s a huge relief knowing that in a serious situation, support is immediately available.

“What really gives me confidence, though, is the combination of GPS tracking and the fact that both drivers and passengers are fully registered. Every ride is monitored, and every user is identifiable.

“This is important because it means drivers and customers are easily traced.

“That assures me that there is support if any issues arise during my rides and that Yango can work with authorities if needed. For passengers, it’s also very safe.

“They can share their ride with someone else, and if you forget something in the car, you can track it, and the driver will return it. I have personally returned a few lost items.

Amunkete’s experience with returning lost items demonstrates a key aspect of the Yango community: honesty and accountability.

Yango continues to maintain a strong reputation for safety among users with over 90% of riders considering Yango a safe app.

Among partner drivers, safety perception stood at 71% in October, reflecting both confidence in the app’s systems and Yango’s ongoing efforts to further strengthen the sense of safety and support across its driving community.

In terms of incident dynamics, Yango has seen a positive trend with a 40% decrease in reckless driving complaints from users when comparing January 2024 to October 2024 and January 2025 to October 2025.

The dedication of drivers like Kiandro and Amunkete demonstrates that road safety is a shared responsibility – one upheld by both Yango’s innovative technology and the professionalism of its partner drivers.

Selma, a Yango passenger in Windhoek, also shared her experience about using
the platform.

She says: “I always feel safe when using Yango, even late at night. The app lets me share my trip with my family, and I can see the driver’s details before getting in. The drivers I’ve met so far have been professional and respectful.

“It’s clear that safety is a big priority – Yango has really changed how I think about using public transport in Namibia.

“I believe more continuous training of the drivers and provision of more safety features will help make the platform safer for all Namibians”

By combining smart features such as GPS tracking, SOS alerts, trip sharing, and
verified profiles with a culture of accountability, Yango continues to set a benchmark for safe and reliable urban mobility.

The company has also continuously reiterated its commitment to working closely with authorities and security agencies to further strengthen safety on the platform and on the roads.

Every day, Yango’s partner drivers are not just moving people, they’re helping move
Namibia towards safer roads for all.
