Drivers’ licences hit by production jam

THE Roads Authority (RA) has stopped issuing driving licences until further notice.Wilfried Brock, a divisional manager at the RA, said this was because of supply problems experienced by the contractor producing the cards for the RA.

Orders for licence cards placed since June have been affected. Brock could not say when the issuing of licences would resume.”A date by which the problem will be solved has not yet been communicated to the RA,” he said in a press release. He said people with temporary driving licences expiring soon, or those intending to drive outside Namibia, should apply for new temporary licences, which would be issued immediately and free of charge.Brock could not say when the issuing of licences would resume.”A date by which the problem will be solved has not yet been communicated to the RA,” he said in a press release. He said people with temporary driving licences expiring soon, or those intending to drive outside Namibia, should apply for new temporary licences, which would be issued immediately and free of charge.
