The police in the Zambezi region on Wednesday registered a culpable homicide case after a driver (31) reportedly struck and killed a teenager (13).
The police say the incident took place at around 06h30 along Dr Hage Geingob Drive between the Soweto and Boma areas of Katima Mulilo, while the teen was on his way to school.
“It is alleged that the driver of a white pickup was driving from east to west in a reckless manner when he struck the boy, who was moving on the shoulder of the road, and the victim succumbed to his injuries,” the incident report reads.
The driver was arrested and faces an additional charge of reckless or negligent driving.
The deceased has been identified as Blessings Simanga, and his next of kin have been informed.
