Drama at Mrs Namibia pageant

Drama at Mrs Namibia pageant

BARELY a week after she was crowned Mrs Namibia 2009, poet and actress Lize Ehlers was stripped of her title after an investigation revealed that one of the judges had allegedly tampered with the scores in her favour.

Her husband was also relieved of his duties as Mr Support.’After a tip-off from four of the six judges and a thorough investigation, I discovered that the scores were deliberately tampered with by one of the judges to make Ehlers the winner when the pageant was actually supposed to have been won by Alinda Van Vuuren, who was crowned second princess that evening,’ said Arminda Jankowski, Executive President and Founder of the Mrs Namibia Agency. Van Vuuren is a singer and owner of the Singing Academy.Catherine Sissing is now first princess while Martha Simasiku is second princess. Van Vuuren’s husband automatically becomes Mr Support. The judges were Surihe Gaomas of Telecom Namibia, Ellen Vilho of Ellen’s Beauty Spot, Sara Nauyoma of Diva’s Hair Salon, photographer and decorator Henry Strauss, Carol Stinton of Broll Namibia and Sharon Cagnetta, a teacher at Highlands Christian School.According to Jankowski, Ehlers has refused to give the crown back. When contacted, Ehlers said she had no comment and that any further communication between her and Jankowski would have to go through her lawyer.
