JACQUELINE Asheeke, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations (Fenata), will make a presentation at next week’s Park Talk.
Asheeke’s talk will be on the value of national parks and protected areas to tourism in Namibia and will be held at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre Cinema Room next Wednesday at 18:00.
According to the 2006 Tourism Satellite Account, seven of the 11 most visited tourism attractions in Namibia are national parks and State protected areas and this shows that parks are the country’s main tourism product.
In 2007, tourism directly and indirectly employed more than 74 000 Namibians.
Park Talk is a bi-monthly discussion on park issues and conservation, hosted by the Strengthening of Protected Areas Network (Span) project of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
