A WINDHOEK doctor is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after he was arrested in the capital on Wednesday evening.
Dr Marnus Pienaar (43) appeared before Magistrate Sarel Jacobs in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of driving a vehicle while the concentration of alcohol in his blood exceeded the legal limit. It is claimed that Pienaar was pulled over by the Windhoek City Police while driving along the city’s Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue at about 21h00 on Wednesday.He was taken to have a blood sample drawn to be tested for alcohol after the Police officer who pulled him over allegedly suspected that the doctor had been drinking.It is understood that Pienaar told the Police on Wednesday evening that he was not guilty.Magistrate Jacobs postponed Pienaar’s case yesterday for the results of the blood tests to become available.Pienaar, who is represented by lawyer Jan Wessels, has to appear in court again on October 29.Public Prosecutor Carlo McLeod represented the State during yesterday’s appearance before the Magistrate.It is claimed that Pienaar was pulled over by the Windhoek City Police while driving along the city’s Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue at about 21h00 on Wednesday.He was taken to have a blood sample drawn to be tested for alcohol after the Police officer who pulled him over allegedly suspected that the doctor had been drinking.It is understood that Pienaar told the Police on Wednesday evening that he was not guilty.Magistrate Jacobs postponed Pienaar’s case yesterday for the results of the blood tests to become available.Pienaar, who is represented by lawyer Jan Wessels, has to appear in court again on October 29.Public Prosecutor Carlo McLeod represented the State during yesterday’s appearance before the Magistrate.
