Do Africans Condone Corruption?

Do Africans Condone Corruption?

WHEN a society accepts corruption, good governance is overturned and results in feelings of hopelessness for the majority of its members.

I have noted that some ANC members blame Thabo Mbeki for the sacking of the South African deputy president for corruption. Also the recent arrest of a corrupt Nigerian businessman/politician in London (through money laundering) which received heavy criticism from some corrupt fellow Nigerians, especially those from that oil state.I am left in serious doubt about our current African leaders and those we will have in the future. How can you protect a corrupt leader and what difference are you making between him and yourself? This is complete ignorance and backwardness.I think that Africa’s extreme poverty and hunger are deep-rooted in corrupt leadership. And for how long will this continue? Now you see desperate and hopeless Africans going through hardships to get into Europe to start a new life despite the fact that most African countries have enough resources to feed the whole of Europe. Why? South Africans should be honest with themselves without being used or misled for personal gains, which does not pay in the final analysis.Nigerians, it seems, have blessed corruption in their country.Everywhere you go in this world, even in Bhutan, you will find Nigerians who have fled their own country despite their abundant natural resources, including oil. Why? My friends in RSA, Nigeria or elsewhere, time is ripe for us Africans to be exemplary to the world including the so-called developed countries from whom we are requesting help.If you let corrupt leaders rule you, they will corrupt the economy and finally corrupt your welfare.P Muteyauli NamibiaAlso the recent arrest of a corrupt Nigerian businessman/politician in London (through money laundering) which received heavy criticism from some corrupt fellow Nigerians, especially those from that oil state.I am left in serious doubt about our current African leaders and those we will have in the future. How can you protect a corrupt leader and what difference are you making between him and yourself?
