DJ Lix takes Zambezi by storm

RISING STAR … Producer and song- writer DJ Lix is gaining traction with the recent drop of his album ‘My Life’.

A mix of treble, high soprano notes, and heartfelt storytelling defines the sound of rising Zambezi star Lister Nyambe, famously known as DJ Lix.

With the recent drop of his new album, ‘My Life’, the young musician has taken Katima Mulilo by storm, particularly gaining praise and extensive social media buzz with his hit track, ‘Couple’.

“I feel maybe the reason why my song is hitting many people’s ears is because it talks about a couple that has gone through challenges in life, but came out strong – on the other side still holding hands,” DJ Lix says.

After joining the entertainment scene in 2012 with comedy and radio dramas, DJ Lix was a member of Mndese Production Studios, a team that parodied the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation’s Silozi radio in comical skits.

His productions aired alongside ‘Mr Yar-z aka Zemakwengo’, ‘Mr 2 Cent’, ‘The Snake’ and ‘M-Zee’.

“People may know me from some Silozi audios that I did, but since it was audio, I’m sure they cannot match the face with the voice,” he says.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of DJ Siya, Lucky Dube, and Chris Brown, DJ Lix combines R&B with signature lyrical narration.

“These guys send messages that are particular to the listener’s ear, and that’s exactly what I want for my music.”

His standout singles – ‘Nifumani Musali (Got a Wife)’ featuring Prince-T, and ‘Wedding Track’ for his newlywed wife – have attracted national attention, especially during the wedding season.

Another hit, ‘Kacehe Kamane’ featuring Arash the Deejay, touches deep on pain and witchcraft activity in rural communities, testament of his range and lyricism.

Apart from music, DJ Lix is a man who wears many hats.

He is a producer, songwriter, animator, and techpreneur.

With certificates in information technology support, networking (Cisco), hospitality, and business ddministration, he runs Delix Tech, a growing multimedia and computer repair business.

He also owns a tour company – Delix Travel and Tours – which is currently inactive.

Despite his entrepreneurial ventures, music remains his lifeline.

“I’m not doing anything else but music, this is my thing – but I hustle here and there to keep myself up,” he says.

DJ Lix hopes to work with artists Shanky Briz, DJ Vuyo, Gazza, and Sally Boss Madam.

“Never give up. Your train is coming. Explore tech, make your own style, and knock – God will open doors,” he advises the youth.
