‘Tradition and Innovation – Local Roots, Global Minds’ was this year’s slogan for the annual bazaar of Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS), which took place on Friday, 16 August, in celebration of the school’s 110-year anniversary.
Besides many traditional food stalls, like the well-known and tastefully decorated coffee garden with its wide variety of homemade cakes, visitors could also taste other culinary delights like tacos, popcorn and the famous German potato fritters, kartoffelpuffer. Stalls offering games for fun and special skills, like sling shooting, bubble-soccer, bull riding, dart throwing, tombola and bowling, were thoroughly enjoyed by young and old alike.
To celebrate the jubilee, a special entertainment programme was designed to be enjoyed by the entire school community. Parents, pupils, alumni and members of staff enjoyed the live performances of Elemotho, Lize Ehlers and the Phoniker Orchestra and danced the night away.
