The organisers of Miss Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Namibia 2025 are calling on local designers to create outfits for finalists and dress the winner during her reign.
Miss NGO Namibia aims to empower young women in Namibia to become leaders and advocates for social development and community change.
The pageant focuses on advocacy, leadership, and community service, providing a platform for young women to showcase their work and promote a positive impact.
It also aims to break barriers by being the first pageant in Namibia to welcome mothers, regardless of their marital status, and to address issues like teenage motherhood.
Miss NGO Namibia pageant national director Marco Coetzee says the organisers are looking for designers who are bold, creative and purpose-driven.
“We aim to work with up to six designers, each dressing some of the finalists in either cocktail wear, swimwear, or evening gowns. We are looking for fashion designers with a passion for storytelling through fashion,” he says.
“Each designer will be paired with one to three finalists, depending on the category and availability. They will also have the honour of dressing the reigning Miss NGO Namibia throughout her reign, including for media appearances, official events, and international pageant participation,” Coetzee says.
He says more such local platforms are needed for fashion designers because it offers valuable exposure both nationally and on global stages.
“We decided to look for local fashion designers because we believe in building Namibia first. Miss NGO Namibia is about more than beauty, it’s a platform for empowerment, talent development and community upliftment.
“By involving local designers, we are creating opportunities for homegrown creatives to shine and be seen, both nationally and internationally,” Coetzee says.
The deadline for entries is today, and the grand finale will take place at the Garden Inn at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek on 6 September.
